THE RESIDENCY
Sympan opens its doors to creators, offering a space where art, architecture, and the spirit of the harbor converge. Between the stone walls and hidden courtyards of this historic Piraeus building, artists are invited to immerse themselves in an environment shaped by time, industry, and the echoes of those who came before. Our residency program provides selected artists with a temporary home—a chamber (Kamara) to create, reflect, and experiment. The stay includes access to Sympan’s evolving spaces, where contemporary narratives unfold within raw, industrial textures. Each residency is documented through visual storytelling and shared within the expanding universe of Sympan.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
Sympan welcomes artists and creators across disciplines—whether in photography, film, painting, music, sculpture, dance, writing, textiles, gastronomy, or forms yet to be defined. We seek those who challenge boundaries, embrace the rawness of material and space, and weave new narratives within our historic chambers. Applications are submitted via our online form, requiring work samples, an artist statement, and a vision for your time at Sympan. Selected artists will be contacted directly. While we may not be able to respond to all applicants, every submission becomes part of our archive, a constellation of potential future residents.
This is more than a stay—it’s an exchange, a passage, a dialogue with space and time.

THE ART COLLECTION
Every residency leaves a trace—an imprint of time, space, and creative exchange. Visual artists in residence are invited to contribute a piece to the Sympan collection, a living archive shaped by those who have passed through its chambers. This growing body of work exists beyond the residency, engaging collectors, visitors, and the city itself. For musicians, dancers, and performers, the contribution may take the form of sound, movement, or ephemeral installations—moments that transform Sympan’s spaces into stages for fleeting yet unforgettable experiences. Proposals for performances, recordings, or site-specific works are encouraged as part of the application process.
